Hiller’s Supports Local Organization With Comfort Food
Southfield, Mich. (December 30, 2010) — Hiller’s Market Good Deeds in the Making Program, benefits Christoph’s A.L.L. Stars with 100 percent of the profit of ready-to-eat homemade Chicken Pot Pie sold at the deli counter for $4.98 each for the month of January.
Christoph’s A.L.L. Stars started in Northville, Mich., by Christoph Bartschat, as a teen, while undergoing cancer treatments at Children’s Hospital. The funds raised support childhood cancer research at Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit.
“We are excited and honored to be a part of Hiller’s Good Deeds Program,” said Bartschat. “It’s important to raise awareness about the necessity of childhood cancer research and to make children as comfortable as possible during treatments.”
“Children’s Hospital of Michigan has the largest population of children with cancer of any center in the state with the best results,” says Zhihong Wang, MD, pediatric onclogist. “We are grateful to organizations like Christoph’s A.L.L. Stars whose efforts continue to support our quest to cure pediatric cancer.”
“It is an important part of Hiller’s mission to give back to the community. We’ve been doing the Good Deeds Program for two years,” said Jim Hiller, Owner of Hiller’s Market. “At Hiller’s we like to be involved with the community as much as possible and the Good Deeds Program is one of the many.”
Christoph’s A.L.L. Stars started by Christoph in 2008 to not only aid in cancer research but to help make young patients more comfortable during treatment. The organization has helped to donate more than $3,000 worth of books and DVDs for the libraries at Children’s Hospital of Michigan. Christoph’s A.L.L. Stars also helps to raise awareness of childhood cancer and encourages the importance of blood donation.
